also dump the grate, (if your weight challenged ) torch the ring but only to support the upper half (lip needed.)of the unit and you have a woodstove backpackable to heat a 2000 s f house.

I got mine without the spark arrestor 100$ -- on a sod roof covered in snow-- dont need it. check out Colemans surplus cheaper.

Stoves like this are made fairly easily. Fuel--there is the problem; you won't have the fuel to barter.
